Spread the word

Now you’ve decided to get involved and fundraise, you’ll need to start spreading the word about what you’re doing to raise money through your social media and contacting your local media.

MWF is supported entirely by your donations so the more people who know about your fundraising, the more you could raise to help make a lasting difference.

Use social media

You can use social media to promote your event, let people know why you’re fundraising for MWF and boost your donations.

Top tips

  • Type @MinhajWelfare in your Facebook posts (you’ll need to ‘like’ us first).
  • Type #TeamMWF on Twitter.
  • Use photographs and videos to tell your fundraising story, show people how much effort you are putting into your fundraising and remind them to sponsor you.
  • Tag other people, especially on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to spread your message even further.

Contact your local newspaper
or radio station

In your press release remember to:

  • Include the most important information in the first paragraphs: when, who, where, what and why
  • Quote the person taking part
  • Give further details
  • Include examples of how fundraising for MWF makes a lasting and life affirming difference
  • Include the link to your MWF online fundraising page
  • Include pictures from your fundraising activity or preparations, if contacting a newspaper
  • Ask if they would be interested in sending a photographer or reporter, if you have yet to do your challenge.

We have an press release template for you to try, which you can download below. Make sure you address your press release to the right person – contact the news desk to get their details. After the event tell the news desks about all your hard work and how much money you raised.

You’ve done the hard work in raising the money so now make sure it gets to us! It’s super simple and there’s lots of ways to send in your sponsorship money so just pick the one that is best for you.

Pay in online

You can pay your money in to us directly online or you can make a bank transfer or BACS payment. Just contact our Supporter Care team (you’ll find our details below) and we’ll provide you with a reference number and our account details.

Do nothing

When you use your local Minhaj Welfare JustGiving page, it collects money from your supporters automatically. This takes all the hassle out of collecting your sponsorship and paying in afterwards.

In person

If you’d like to make a donation in person, you can pay in cash and cheques (where applicable) at the bank or any of our local collection points. For a paying in slip (where applicable) that you can use at any branch Bank please contact our Supporter Care team.

By Mail

Cheques (where applicable) made payable to MWF can also be posted to us, visit our contact us page for local postal details

Please make sure you include your name, contact details and details of your event so that we can thank you for your amazing fundraising efforts.
